YachtsDirect Legal
Privacy Policy
How YachtsDirect collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information — and the rights you have over it.
YachtsDirect (“YachtsDirect,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit yachtsdirect.com, request a yacht valuation, contact our brokerage, or otherwise interact with our services — and how we use, share, and protect that information. By using this website, you agree to the practices described here.
What Personal Information Does YachtsDirect Collect?
We collect only the information needed to respond to your inquiries and provide brokerage, wholesale, and trade-in services. Specifically:
- Contact information you submit: name, email address, phone number, and city/state when you fill out our contact, valuation, sell-your-boat, or trade-in forms.
- Boat and transaction information: vessel make, model, year, length, hull identification number, engine details, condition, photos, and documentation status when you request a valuation or list a boat with us.
- Communication records: emails, text messages, phone-call notes, and form submissions exchanged with our team.
- Automatically collected technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps. This is logged by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) and analytics tools for security and performance monitoring.
- Cookies and similar technologies: small data files stored on your device to support site functionality and analytics (see “Cookies, Pixels, and Tracking Technologies” below).
We do not intentionally collect Social Security numbers, government-issued ID numbers, financial-account numbers, or health information through this website. When a transaction progresses to closing, financing, or registration, additional information may be requested directly from you through secure third-party channels operated by lenders, surveyors, or title services — not stored on this website.
How Does YachtsDirect Use Your Information?
We use the information you provide to:
- Respond to inquiries, provide yacht valuations, and arrange showings or sea trials.
- Match you with relevant inventory or potential buyers and coordinate the buying, selling, wholesale, or trade-in process from start to finish.
- Coordinate marine surveys, financing, insurance, registration, and closing services on your behalf when you engage us.
- Send service-related communications (appointment confirmations, status updates, closing documents).
- With your opt-in consent, send occasional newsletters or marketing messages about inventory and market updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email or by contacting us directly.
- Operate, secure, and improve the website; detect fraud or abuse; and comply with our legal obligations.
Who Does YachtsDirect Share Your Information With?
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the parties needed to deliver the services you request or to meet our legal obligations:
- Service providers: hosting (Cloudflare), email delivery, CRM/database (Convex), and analytics vendors who process data on our behalf under written agreements.
- Transaction partners: certified marine surveyors, lenders, insurers, title agents, dealerships, and yards that are necessary to complete a yacht purchase, sale, or trade-in you have authorized.
- Marketing platforms (only with your consent): third parties such as inventory syndication networks (e.g., YachtWorld, BoatTrader) where a listing is published with your authorization.
- Legal and safety: law enforcement, courts, or regulators when required by subpoena, court order, or applicable law, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business transfers: a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business. Any successor will be bound by this Privacy Policy or by a policy with equivalent protections.

Cookies, Pixels, and Tracking Technologies
Our website uses a limited number of cookies and similar technologies to operate correctly and to understand how visitors use the site. These include:
- Strictly necessary cookies required for the website to function (e.g., session management).
- Performance and analytics cookies (e.g., Cloudflare Web Analytics) that help us understand aggregate usage. Cloudflare Web Analytics is configured to be privacy-preserving and does not use device fingerprinting.
- Functional cookies that remember preferences such as filter settings on inventory pages.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Doing so may limit some site features. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal for opting out of any cross-context behavioral advertising.
How Long Does YachtsDirect Keep Your Information?
We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide our services and to comply with legal, tax, accounting, and contractual obligations:
- Inquiry and valuation submissions: up to 36 months after last contact, then anonymized or deleted unless the relationship is active.
- Completed transaction records: retained for at least 7 years in line with U.S. record-keeping requirements for maritime transactions and tax purposes.
- Marketing subscribers: until you unsubscribe, then up to 30 days for suppression-list compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act.
- Server and security logs: typically 90 days.
How Does YachtsDirect Protect Your Information?
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include HTTPS encryption in transit, access controls, encrypted backups, and ongoing employee training. No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
YachtsDirect is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Third-Party Links and Embedded Content
Our website may link to or embed content from third parties (for example, BoatTrader or YachtWorld listings, Cloudinary-hosted images, or Google Maps). Those services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.
Do-Not-Track and Global Privacy Control
Our site does not change its behavior in response to a generic Do-Not-Track (DNT) signal because no consistent industry standard for DNT has emerged. We do honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out request under California law.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent revision took effect. Material changes will be announced on the home page or via email if we have your address. Continued use of the website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
